Who ya gonna call?
TWO northern suburbs fathers have found their hobby investigating paranormal activity is opening doors to some of WA’s historical sites.
Ivan Kirov, of Kinross, and Darren Hunt, of Tapping, have shared interests in history and the paranormal for several years, leading them to start Paranormal Hunters about 10 months ago.
Since then, they have been invited to investigate paranormal activity at several historical buildings, including the Yanchep Inn earlier this year.
Mr Kirov said they used night vision still and video cameras to detect light forms and stayed in the building overnight.
“In one of the bedrooms, we had a bit of a mist appear. In one of the other rooms, we had a strange light anomaly,” he said. “We also had an orb shoot past in the hallway. “This particular orb shot past the camera, then we had a bit of movement on the still camera on the tripod.”
They used the visual and audio evidence gathered to create a video, which they shared on the Paranormal Hunters Facebook page.
Mr Kirov said their investigations were more about hearing the stories and looking at the history of places than about proving definitively whether paranormal activity took place. “It’s a bit of a niche interest,” he said. “We put a lot of time into this; over the whole course of the night, we might look at five minutes of something happening.
“We are not psychics, we are not mediums, we are two ordinary dads who have full-time jobs. “We just love going to historical places.” The pair have visited several other historical places around Perth, including the Midland Town Hall, Fairbridge historical village, Fremantle Prison and Woodman Point Quarantine Station Isolation Hospital.
“We are getting quite a following; a lot of people are interested in the paranormal,” Mr Kirov said.
“Everything is 100 per cent honest and true. It’s not about trying to trick people; we would rather put a video out there saying we caught nothing.
“We have been to places and not found anything (but) more often than not we are finding things.
“We think that’s just due to the great places that we are going to.”
