City seeks road fund­ing

SIX roads in the City of Wan­neroo are be­ing con­sid­ered for State Gov­ern­ment fund­ing for im­prove­ments.

Coun­cil­lors at the July meet­ing sup­ported sub­mit­ting ap­pli­ca­tions for roads in Darch/Made­ley, But­ler, Banksia Grove, Ma­rig­iniup, Wan­gara and Gir­rawheen un­der Main Roads’ 2018-19 Metropoli­tan Re­gional Roads Pro­gram for road im­prove­ment and re­ha­bil­i­ta­tion projects.

It is seek­ing a to­tal of $7.7 mil­lion to cre­ate dual car­riage­ways on Hart­man Drive from Hep­burn Av­enue to Gnan­gara Road at a cost of $4.5 mil­lion, along Con­nolly Drive be­tween Lukin Drive and Be­nen­den Av­enue cost­ing $3.65 mil­lion and Joon­dalup Drive from Pin­jar to Old Yanchep roads, which is ex­pected to cost $3.4 mil­lion.

As part of road re­ha­bil­i­ta­tion, it ap­plied for $602,134 to re­seal as­phalt on Ca­porn Street be­tween Franklin Road and 250m east of Green Park Drive, Franklin Road from north of Dun­de­bar Road to south of Ca­porn Street and Mirra­booka Av­enue north­bound lanes be­tween Beach Road and Maranga­roo Drive.

Fund­ing is con­tin­gent on the City fund­ing one-third of the project and if suc­cess­ful, it would need to con­trib­ute $3.85 mil­lion for the road im­prove­ment projects and $301,066 for the re­ha­bil­i­ta­tion works.
