Store to be converted

North Coast Times - - NEWS -

HOME Consortium has received approval to convert the former Masters store in Butler.

The Metro North-West Development Assessment Panel approved its application to change the internal layout to accommodate showrooms, market stalls and a takeaway outlet.

At the August 23 meeting, panel members agreed to Planning Solutions associate Scott Vincent’s request to remove reference to the number of tenancies as the exact number was not relevant for planning purposes.

Mr Vincent also asked for a change to have graffiti removed within 14 days rather than seven, but the panel stuck with the weeklong limit to be consistent with other development approvals.

The City of Wanneroo’s planning implementation manager Pas Bracone said seven days seemed to be “reasonable” and no one had raised issues with that in the past.

There was also discussion about the waste collection, with a condition requiring a waste management plan that would minimise disruption to the residential properties.

Councillor Russell Driver said the community had been waiting for plans to make sure the store, which has been vacant since late 2016, was used again.

Home Consortium did not respond to requests for comment.
