Building time extended
DEVELOPERS will have three years rather than the usual two to start construction of an $11 million Alkimos apartment block.
The Metro North-West Development Assessment Panel approved Tuscom Subdivision Consultants’ application on behalf of landowner Alkimos Views to build the 52-unit development at 40 Portside Promenade in August.
The applicant sought an extension to the two-year approval timeframe in the City of Wanneroo’s recommendation,
“The development has been designed to be constructed in two stage,” Hide Shigeyoshi said.
“The two-year approval does cut times quite short – four years would be great or anything more than two.”
Panel member and Wanneroo councillor Russell Driver moved the recommendation, saying it was a good result for the area.
Cr Frank Cvitan said “aesthetically it looks great” and would be a “good development”.
Presiding member Karen Hyde successfully moved an amendment to give the developers a three-year approval, with 10 conditions relating to landscaping, waste management, parking and construction.
Discussion during the meeting also covered ventilation, landscaping and privacy screening between units and communal places.
The five panel members unanimously agreed to support the amended recommendation to approve development on the 2715sq m lot in Peet’s Shorehaven estate.
