Mil­lions in lost su­per

FED­ERAL MP Chris­tian Porter is en­cour­ag­ing lo­cals to check if they have any lost or un­claimed su­per­an­nu­a­tion with the Aus­tralian Tax Of­fice af­ter it re­vealed more than $100 mil­lion of un­claimed su­per be­longed to peo­ple in Pearce.

It re­vealed that as of June 30 this year there were more than 6.3 mil­lion lost and ATO-held su­per ac­counts worth al­most $18 bil­lion, with 25,744 un­claimed ac­counts worth more than $105 mil­lion in Pearce.

“There are many ways peo­ple can lose con­tact with their su­per­an­nu­a­tion, in­clud­ing chang­ing jobs which may force them into a new su­per­an­nu­a­tion fund, mov­ing homes or not up­dat­ing their de­tails,” Mr Porter said.

“I en­cour­age ev­ery­one to log onto the ATO web­site to check if they have any un­claimed su­per­an­nu­a­tion.”
