Ar­son blamed for fire

PO­LICE are in­ves­ti­gat­ing a sus­pi­cious fire that burned close to homes in Ridge­wood on Aus­tralia Day.

Ac­cord­ing to the Ar­son Squad, the fire started about 11.45pm on Jan­uary 26 in an area bounded by Kil­kee Street, Tin­gle­wood Boule­vard and the rail line.

Nearby res­i­dents saw the flames and Depart­ment of Fire and Emer­gency Ser­vices at­tended and were able to ex­tin­guish the fire.

Strike Force Vul­can in­ves­ti­ga­tors be­lieve

the fire, which burnt through about 30m by 50m of scrub close to houses, was de­lib­er­ately lit.
