Wreck a pop­u­lar spot for open wa­ter se­ries

SWIM­MING WA’s Open Wa­ter Swim­ming Se­ries re­turns to wa­ter near the Alki­mos ship­wreck for a third time this sum­mer.

The se­ries, which is in its 10th year, in­cludes 14 events across Perth and re­gional WA from Oc­to­ber to March for swim­mers aged nine to 99.

Shore­haven at Alki­mos es­tate de­vel­oper Peet Ltd will spon­sor stage 9 on Fe­bru­ary 11, with swim­mers step­ping into the waves in front of Wa­ter­front Park from 7.30am.

The event is ex­pected to at­tract 300 to 400 com­peti­tors swim­ming cour­ses of 500m, 1.25km, 2.5km and 5km.

Spec­ta­tors are wel­come and there will be beach games, fam­ily-friendly ac­tiv­i­ties and en­ter­tain­ment of­fered.

Round seven 7 of the se­ries will take place at Sor­rento on Aus­tralia Day and round eight will be in Rock­ing­ham on Fe­bru­ary 4.
