AN Alkimos developer has started works to connect an estate to Marmion Avenue ahead of the $23 million widening project scheduled to start next year.

A Lendlease spokeswoman said roadworks along Marmion Avenue were due to finish in the next two weeks and would provide a temporary access point into Alkimos Vista.

She said construction of a roundabout would start in August, which would form the permanent entry to the estate once completed in early 2019.

At the Two Rocks Yanchep Residents Association meeting on June 25, Mayor Tracey Roberts said there were 16 intersections along Marmion Avenue that planners needed to factor into the dual-carriageway design.

City parks and conservation manager Grant Chettleburgh was a guest speaker at the meeting and said the City would have a temporary water licence to establish trees along the dual carriageway.

“We want to create a tree-lined avenue as much as possible,” he said.
