SOUTH Fremantle has quality all over the park.
While we could organise specific match-ups for a number of their players, we’ll only be concentrating on one or two of them at Fremantle Oval on Saturday.
If we stick to match-ups too richly, most teams can manipulate us, so we’ll be backing our defensive mechanisms to do the job.
The Bulldogs have plenty of match winners on their list and are dangerous in transition, but I believe we have the ability to slow them down.
Despite last Saturday’s 13.9 (87) to 11.10 (76) loss to Subiaco, there weren’t too many concerns coming from the match at Arena Joondalup.
It was a 10- or 15-minute patch in the third quarter that cost us, with Subiaco kicking a handful of unanswered goals.
We were ahead in most of the important stats in the first half and fought hard late but couldn’t hit the scoreboard.
Luke Meadows was slightly restricted after copping a knock on his hip early in the game as well as being hampered by a bruised toe.
But we’re confident he’ll get up this week.
In the reserves, ruckman Chris Keunen was close to a return to the league side but chipped a bone in his knuckle, which required an operation. The injury will put him out for four or five weeks, which is a disappointing hindrance to his aim for senior selection.
