NBN Co is seeking thousands of skilled workers as construction of the national broadband network ramps up in Perth. The company has launched a nationwide search for job seekers who have more than three years of experience in related industries including motor vehicle manufacturing, mining, road and bridge construction, boat building and electricity distribution. WA corporate affairs manager Ebony Aitken said this was NBN Co’s biggest year yet in construction and service activation and several thousand skilled workers were needed to build, operate and maintain the network. No direct telecommunications experience is required and successful candidates will have access to training and industry recognised competencies. The company anticipates there will be long-term employment opportunities once the network build is complete.
