North Coast Weekender - - Sport -

JOONDALUP tenpin bowlers will test their prowess against the best in the country at the junior national championships this week.

A team of seven girls and six boys aged from 13 to 17 are in Sydney until April 22 as they look to claim glory for WA at Tenpin City in Lidcombe.

The side will also compete in three days of President Shield competition, which is a tournament between state teams and can lead to national selection.

Rounding off a busy interstate journey will be the prestigious Junior Masters, in which local bowlers Emily McKellar and Callum Borck have earned a place after winning the WA Masters in March.

The team won a $1000 grant for the trip to NSW after scoring the most votes in a monthly competition run by a major bank.
