We need win and some luck

North Coast Weekender - - Sport - with Bill Monaghan

WE were beaten soundly by Subiaco, but the good news from last weekend was that Perth beat East Perth, a result that kept our season alive.

Of course, we’re reliant on the Lions beating the Royals on Saturday but we can’t control what happens there.

We just need to ensure we beat Claremont at Claremont Oval on Saturday to put ourselves in the box seat if the other result does fall our way.

The last time we faced the Tigers they defeated us by two points so there’s not a lot we need to do differently against them this time around.

We fought back late in that game and had the opportunity to win it after the siren.

Dean Munns could possibly go to Jye Bolton as he has done in the past, but that’s not a certainty.

Our focus needs to be winning the game rather than any particular player.

Steve Potente and Scott Nelson could be a chance to come into the senior side, but we’re uncertain at this stage. Both have been out for multiple weeks. I would expect Mitch Antonio to hold his spot after making an encouraging debut for us against the Lions.

We played some good football against Subiaco in the first and third quarters but, like most the season, could not take full advantage of our good work.

It blew out in the last quarter and was ultimately a disappointing day in the 19.14 (128) to 6.10 (46) loss at Leederville Oval.
