Ma­rina out­let ex­cels at awards

NORTH­ERN suburbs venues have scooped sev­eral awards at this year’s Hos­pi­tal­ity Awards for Ex­cel­lence run by the Aus­tralian Ho­tels As­so­ci­a­tion (AHA) WA.

The Ma­rina Min­darie won awards for best out­door area and best hos­pi­tal­ity venue, with em­ployee Kelly Bar­ranger win­ning the best front of of­fice and ad­min­is­tra­tion award on Novem­ber 13.

The Green­wood Ho­tel’s Ryan Fraser and Mark Bin­g­ley won the best food and bev­er­age ser­vices em­ployee and ris­ing star awards.

The Break­wa­ter at Hil­larys was the best re­spon­si­ble ser­vice of al­co­hol win­ner and a joint win­ner for best con­fer­ence and func­tions with Aloft Perth in River­vale.

The En­deav­our Tav­ern in Lancelin won the best com­mu­nity ser­vice venue award and Cur­ram­bine Bar and Bistro re­ceived the award for the best ca­sual pub din­ing in the met­ro­pol­i­tan area.

The Botan­ica Bar and Bistro in In­naloo won best re­tail bot­tleshop and The Saint Ge­orge Ho­tel in the same sub­urb was a joint win­ner for best sport­ing en­ter­tain­ment venue with Padding­ton Ale­house in Mount Hawthorn.

AHA WA chief ex­ec­u­tive Bradley Woods said it had been a chal­leng­ing year for some in the hos­pi­tal­ity in­dus­try, but the dedication of own­ers, managers and staff was un­wa­ver­ing.

The Min­darie Fes­ti­val is on this Sun­day, Novem­ber 19, from noon to 5pm.

Among other ac­tiv­i­ties, there will be mar­kets, live mu­sic and free chil­dren’s en­ter­tain­ment.
