*THE Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC) is holding a series of workshops on the sustainable management of insect pests in grain crops.
The workshops will feature presentations by leading entomologists and research and extension experts who will discuss with participants key pest-related issues that are often encountered during the crop growing season.
The key outcome is developing cost-effective management strategies for regionally important crops and pests.
Participants will receive access to a comprehensive resource kit including GRDC fact sheets, ute guides, course notes and presentations.
The workshops will be held in Albury on Tuesday, April 8, Bendigo on Wednesday, April 9 and Horsham on Thursday, April 10.

*ALPACAS Joma are holding an Alpaca familiarisation day on Saturday, April 26 at the stud’s Merton property.
Starting at 10am, the day is a great opportunity for new breeders and those who are interested in getting involved to get acquainted and to gain experience and confidence in handling alpacas.
Workshops to be held will cover catching and halter training, administering injections and drenches, toe nail trimming, assessment of nutritional levels, worm monitoring and drenching and fencing, yards, shelter and water.
The familiarisation day is free of charge and no booking is required.

*North East Landcare is holding the following events in April.
April 4: Secrets to Successful Groups’ workshop will be held starting at 9.45am to 3.30pm at the Old Courthouse, William Street, Yackandandah.
This workshop will benefit those who are committee members of a Landcare group who want to attract new members and to improve group decisions, as well as assisting those wanting to brush up on the legal duties of committee members.
April 15: A Baranduda Landcare GIS Mapping Workshop will be held at the Wodonga Community Centre starting at 5.30pm to 7.30pm.
Jill Dawson will take you through the use of free mapping software available on the Department of Environment and Primary Industries website that can be used to generate custom maps of “your patch” useful for a whole range of functions.
*STOCKBOOK Livestock Management is sponsoring a Practical Systems electronic identification field day on Thursday, April 10.
The field day will be held at Toland Merino at Violet Town where farmers can see how using electronic identification can reduce labor costs and see how it is done with an on-farm demonstration.

*THE North East Clydie Group is sponsoring the Benalla Heavy Horse Driving Day on Saturday, May 3 at the Benalla Pony Club, Equine Park, Shepparton Road, Benalla.
All heavy horses are welcome, with junior classes running for children and their ponies.
Any adult exhibitor who is not a member of a heavy horse breed society must pay a casual day insurance of $20, with nonmember junior exhibitors costing $11.
There is no charge for class entries.
Harness and shoeing demonstrations will run during the lunch break.
Entry is free with food available all day.
