Busi­ness health check for ru­ral pro­duc­ers

TO en­sure you are leav­ing your farm busi­ness in an ideal state when you re­tire, why not at­tend GOTAFE’s one-day work­shop that will cover many key ar­eas that you will need to ad­dress be­fore hand­ing the fam­ily farm over to the next gen­er­a­tion.

The ‘Busi­ness Health Check for Ru­ral Pro­duc­ers’ work­shop to be held at the De­latite Ho­tel in Mans­field on Mon­day, July 14 is specif­i­cally de­signed to fa­cil­i­tate en­gage­ment with lo­cal in­dus­try, util­is­ing lo­cal people and ex­per­tise within agri­cul­ture.

GOTAFE’s commercial man­ager agri­cul­ture ed­u­ca­tion Leigh Kildey said a range of topics and ac­tiv­i­ties linked to build­ing stronger busi­ness out­comes will be cov­ered at the work­shop.

“The event will pro­vide the op­por­tu­nity to en­gage in a pos­i­tive and in­ter­ac­tive se­ries of train­ing ses­sions linked to im­proved busi­ness plan­ning and vi­a­bil­ity,” he said.

“You will be able to learn from a range of ex­pert speak­ers on topics such as tak­ing con­trol of com­mod­ity mar­kets, man­ag­ing your in­sur­ance needs, man­ag­ing your an­i­mal health needs and tak­ing con­trol of your graz­ing strat­egy.

“You will also de­velop a bet­ter un­der­stand­ing of how to set real­is­tic tar­gets for your busi­ness, gain use­ful tips and in­ves­ti­gate tools to im­prove your busi­ness per­for­mance.”

The pro­gram fea­tures four key note speak­ers and skilled fa­cil­i­ta­tor Stu­art Warner who will take par­tic­i­pants through a range of topics and ac­tiv­i­ties linked to build­ing stronger busi­ness out­comes.

The work­shop starts at 9.30am and fin­ishes at 3.30pm, with the cost be­ing $60 el­i­gi­ble or $75 in­el­i­gi­ble.
