McNair looks to na­tional and in­ter­na­tional grain op­por­tu­ni­ties

EX­PE­RI­ENCED grain sup­ply chain ex­pert Si­mon McNair has been ap­pointed as the new chief ex­ec­u­tive of­fi­cer of the Aus­tralian Grain Grow­ers Co-op­er­a­tive (AGG Co-op).

The new ap­point­ment sig­ni­fies the next phase of growth for the grower-owned co-op, which, af­ter four years, is work­ing to con­tin­u­ally ex­pand the na­tional and in­ter­na­tional op­por­tu­ni­ties avail­able for grower mem­bers.

Mr McNair said he is look­ing for­ward to tak­ing up the role and work­ing with grow­ers and the coop’s team of staff and di­rec­tors.

“I have worked in the grains in­dus­try for more than 30 years and seen and ex­pe­ri­enced many dif­fer­ent grain mar­ket­ing mod­els,” he said.

“The Co-op man­date of de­liv­er­ing grain mar­ket­ing ser­vices which not only meets the needs of grower-mem­bers but re­turns prof­its back clearly aligns with my val­ues.

“I am re­ally look­ing for­ward to fur­ther grow­ing the busi­ness, en­sur­ing it reaches its max­i­mum po­ten­tial both na­tion­ally and in­ter­na­tion­ally,” Mr McNair said.

Mr McNair’s pre­vi­ous po­si­tions in­clude prin­ci­pal at SJM & As­so­ciates, CEO at Aus­tralian Bulk Al­liance, gen­eral man­ager of ABB Grain Ltd and chair of Grain Trust Pty Ltd and the Vic­to­rian Grain Lo­gis­tics Task Force.

He takes over from Steve Melling­ton.

The AGG Co-op has been op­er­at­ing since 2009 and has achieved sig­nif­i­cant growth mar­ket­ing grain for more than 2000 grow­ers in Vic­to­ria, New South Wales and South Aus­tralia.
