Rural woman award winner announced
THE 2017 Rural Industries Research and Development Corporation (RIRDC) Victorian Rural Women’s Award has gone to a woman with big plans for the local seafood industry.
Kirsten Abernethy has spent more than 10 years working internationally in the fisheries industry, and returned to Melbourne in 2015 to take up a position with Seafood Industry Victoria.
Ms Abernethy was selected by an independent panel alongside three other finalists, Cath Jenkins, Joelene Williams and Lisa Brassington.
She received $10,000 for her project.
