Welcome to our first issue of North East Living magazine

North East Living Magazine - - Contents - Jeff Zeuschner | EDITOR

As publishers of community newspapers throughout the North East we never cease to be amazed at the interesting

and inspiring people who choose to call this magnificent region their home, and how they enrich, in so many ways, the

enviable lifestyle choices we enjoy.

It is something we shouldn’t take for granted, and it is something we want to share in the pages of this bi-annual magazine – a celebration of local people, their stories, homes and gardens, our magnificent food and wine, art, regional attractions and events, landmarks, shopping and history.

This magazine is to offer a taste of life in the North East, shared

by our dedicated and proudly parochial staff and extended friends who call Wangaratta, Indigo, Alpine, Mansfield, Benalla,

Moira and Albury/wodonga municipalities their home.

In our first autumn/winter edition we meet the Jacka family

who’ve left their city lifestyle behind to establish an award winning goat cheese business at Tarrawingee; get a glimpse of the creative talents of Benalla artist Tony Flint; enter the minds of Rutherglen Estate’s chief winemaker Marc Scalzo and Brown Brothers’ executive chef Douglas Elder; tour Brenda and Lou Pomponio’s custom built contemporary farmhouse near Beechworth; saddle up with Mansfield’s historic mountain cattlemen families; see how amateur

theatre is flourishing on the Border, and much more.

So sit back, relax and hopefully enjoy the read as much as

we’ve enjoyed putting it together for you.
