SET over two fantastic weekends in March, Rutherglen hosts the ultimate gourmand’s party - Tastes of Rutherglen - as leading regional chefs and local winemakers partner in the ultimate progressive lunch in NE Victoria.
The ever-popular festival promises to be the best yet as 20 distinctive wineries host two food and wine weekends March 8-9 and 15-16, 2014.
Festival-goers can indulge in perfectly matched food and wine combinations as each winery offers a signature dish by a regional chef matched to the best wines of Rutherglen.
Meet the renowned and friendly winemakers behind Rutherglen’s worldclass wines and discover the passion of North East Victoria’s local producers as the region celebrates vintage under sunny autumn skies.
Music, food, wine and authentic, rustic fun seamlessly blend at what has become one of regional Victoria’s best festivals.
Wine lovers can simply kickback and indulge in fabulous dishes matched to sublime wines, or try something more interactive at one of the many winery “activities”.
Great value “all inclusive” Taste Packs are available for prepurchase or on the weekends and are also designed to make festival navigating simple and easy.
Guests simply pre-purchase a “pack”, online or on the day, at the participating wineries or at the Welcome Marquee at the Rutherglen Wine Experience building.
New in 2014, each of the four shuttle routes are themed around “Tastes Touring Routes” to match their gourmet and wine offering.
Over both weekends, a range of events will take place at wineries including themed wine dinners, produce markets, dinners under the stars, live bands and more.
Transport is easy over the two weekends thanks to the TAC winery shuttle bus which circles between all 20 wineries, and festival-goers can hop on and off as they like in this safe and hassle-free way to tour the wineries ($25 per day).
Shuttle riders can take advantage of free safe wine cloaking.
There is a regional shuttle option with pick-up and dropoff also available in Rutherglen, Wahgunyah and Corowa, Albury Wodonga, Howlong, Mulwala, Bundalong, Chiltern, Wangaratta and Yarrawonga ($35 per day - pre-bookings online).
A Designated Driver Reward Campaign, also sponsored by TAC, operates all weekend with information available at participating wineries.
