Beer collaboration to be a winter hit
WHAT happens when a brewer, a chocolatier and coffee roaster get together to cook up an idea?
In the case of Bright Brewery, a potent craft beer called Stubborn Russian, which will be unleashed on Victoria’s North East this winter, just in time for ski season.
Bright Brewery’s James Davidson said he is excited to see how the new version of their annual winter release comes out, as it is the first time the brew has been infused with chocolate and coffee.
The collaboration will see around 1000 litres of the 2015 Stubborn Russian hit the shelves, and both Sixpence Coffee’s Luke Dudley and Bright Chocolate’s Simeon Crawley were thrilled to be part of the process and providing local blends of their coffee and chocolate as ingredients.
This is the fifth year in a row the brewery has done this special brew, so named because its base is a Russian imperial stout.
Mr Davidson said the brew was developed in cooperation with Luke Dudley from Sixpence Coffee and Simeon Crawley from Bright Chocolate, and the end product would be very potent, with an estimated alcohol content of over 18 per cent and rich chocolate and coffee infused flavours.
“I think it’s great three local businesses can come together and collaborate on something like this,” Mr Dudley said.
Mr Davidson said Stubborn Russian is best enjoyed in small doses and served in wine glasses.
