INDIGO’S unique Gold Trail can now be explored using a smartphone.

A Gold Trail app was developed last year to help people navigate the rich history of this historic trail.

The Indigo Gold Trail, officially unveiled in 2011, is a touring route connecting the gold heritage towns and sites of Beechworth, Rutherglen, Chiltern and Yackandandah.

The route includes dozens of historic sites including heritage-listed buildings and important gold mining sites.

Indigo Shire Tourism describes it as an evolving collection of gold history, being preserved for future generations to gain an understanding of how important gold mining was in establishing the region.

The Indigo Gold Trail app allows people to explore the sites and listen to audios telling the tales of a bygone era on their own mobile phone.

It was designed to provide a better experience for those exploring the region’s gold history, allowing them to learn more about the various sites they visit through modern, mobile technology.

The Indigo Gold Trail app is available free through both Apple iTunes and Google Play for android phones as a free download.
