Fun in High Country
SUMMER in the High Country has something for everyone.
Popular with many holiday makers are the lakes – Eildon and Nillahcootie - for water sports and fishing.
On New Year’s Day the Merton Race Club will hold its annual race meeting where an estimated 2000 people enjoy a ‘recovery day’ after welcoming in the New Year.
Towards the end of January there are the usual Australia Day celebrations including both the bush and farmers markets and kids activities – with an open day at the local swimming pool.
And of course growing in popularity is the Great Victorian Rail Trail which can be ridden in part or full.
When the weather turns extremely hot there are always the hills to head for.
Mt Buller offers the coolness of the High Country along with cycling activities and a Picnic in the Park in March.
