Visit The ‘Jig’ for a hotel that has something for everyone
THERE are few establishments as iconic as the Hunt Club Hotel, better known as the Merrijig Pub or ‘The Jig’.
Located in the heart of Merrijig, on the Mt Buller Road, the pub was opened in 1873 and has been the locals’ watering-hole ever since.
In winter, the pub boasts a roaring open fire and meals that epitomise country hospitality - lamb shanks, beef bourguignon and 500 gram rib eye steaks.
In the warmer months, there is ice cold beer, homemade pizzas and a chicken parma like you’ve never tasted before, made completely on site with genuine breast meat - rich and succulent.
With an extended outside deck and a quintessential country feel, the Hunt Club Hotel is not only a great place to enjoy the night out, it’s also a great option for families.
Determined to make everyone feel at home, The Jig has kids’ video games, a TV and a toy corner complete with games and books - so mum and dad can relax and enjoy the meal while the kids entertain themselves.
There are always things happening at the Hunt Club, from live music to Jack the Joker night - every Thursday, and trivia is on every second Tuesday.
Meals are served most nights from 6pm, with lunches available Friday to Sunday 12noon–2pm.
So whether you are looking for a delicious meal for the whole family, or want to grab something on your way to exploring the High Country, drop into The Jig and experience country hospitality at its best.
