THE SPIRIT OF THE HIGH COUNTRY

North East Tourist News - - MANSFIELD & DISTRICT -

33 YEARS ago the Mansfield High Country Festival started as a celebration of the horsemanship of the mountain cattlemen and today the festival takes pride in being one of regional Victoria’s most respected, loved and visited annual events.

It provides an opportunity to catch a piece of the spirit of the High Country.

The keystone of the Mansfield High Country Festival is the community involvement, with each community group bringing a passion and authentic flavour to the program.

The Mansfield High Country Festival comprises of a diverse variety of up to 33 events over five days, featuring an environmental, arts and performance focus combined with popular unique community events including the torchlight parade, fireworks, grand parade and picnic races.

The whole Mansfield district is involved.

Over 25 community groups work together to create a significant themed, high quality event which is stimulating, educational, provocative and entertaining for a local, metro Melbourne, regional and interstate audience.

The Mansfield High Country Festival is an opportunity for young people to be heard, artists and musicians to showcase original work, and for community groups to celebrate and welcome friends and visitors to the area.

It is a platform to educate and highlight little known elements of High Country traditional lifestyles.

The Mansfield High Country Festival is truly a ‘touch, taste, see, smell’ experience of North East Victoria.
