North East Tourist News - - MERRIJIG -

MERRIJIG’S first ever Barrel Racing Series came closer to fruition recently, when Latoya Wards invited all those interested in helping out to put up their hands.

Held at McCormack Park, the same venue the Series will use, residents, competitors and volunteers were all encouraged so that preparation can begin to get the first event under way.

Recent news that the Chiltern Barrels and Buckles Series will not run in 2016 boosted hopes that the Merrijig Series could potentially benefit, with many competitors looking for somewhere to run their horses.

At this stage, the first round of the series is due to be held on September 24.

The event will be organised by current Australian Rodeo Queen and barrel racer, Latoya Wards.
