The New Zealand Tree Project (Canterbury Museum, Christchurch, until April 30) brings the podocarps to the people, with a conservation-inspired photographic exhibition highlighting the wonders of the North Island’s Pureora Forest. Behold the hero piece, a majestic 40m-high rimu, created by stitching together more than 60 high-resolution photos taken over four weeks using a specialised camera rig. There’s also a short documentary about Pureora’s natural and human history, from discovery through degradation to protection.
