SURVIVING PASSCHENDAELE

North & South - - Public Trust Promotion -

The talented Jan Bolwell (actor, dancer, singer, playwright) plays her adolescent self, encouraging her grandfather Arthur Gardiner to talk about World War I and how he survived Passchendaele in Bill Massey’s Tourists (Arts on Tour, nationwide, August 31-October 1). A young soldier in the Otago Mounted Rifles, Arthur was one of “Bill Massey’s tourists” – named after William “Bill” Massey, who was New Zealand’s prime minister at the time.
