Three strikes on airfares

Fare is fair

There is no doubt the cost of airfares in the Pilbara is one of the biggest bugbears of our residents, but even the Pilbara public couldn’t help but share a laugh at the fare investigation hearing last week.

Take the poor Englishbloke-turned-Pilbarian who raised some good points, but also forgot a few of them.

After hailing committee chairwoman Jessica Shaw to voice his opinion, he forgot the third of his points he wanted to raise. He then caught the attention of Ms Shaw only to forget again.

This happened a third time, at which point resident Marg Bertling handed him a pen and paper. Then there was the committee itself, which wrapped up with Ms Shaw telling the crowd they had to leave to catch a plane.

Given the theme of the night, this had the crowd in a fit of laughter knowing their ticket’s likely cost.

Airfares may break our bank accounts, but they will never break our spirit.
