Fired up after footy win
Pemberton business owner and firefighter Greg Hamlyn has won the ultimate football trip — attending the AFL grand final at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
Mr Hamlyn entered the Statewide competition, run by West Australian Regional Newspapers, after making a purchase at the Pemberton General Store.
Mr Hamlyn said he was “ecstatic” to win the prize, worth more than $5000, which includes game tickets, flights and accommodation.
“I want to thank West Australian Newspapers for holding the competition — it’s a fantastic prize and you never think you’re going to win something like that,” he said.
The West Coast Eagles supporter said although his team did not make it to the grand final, he was still excited to attend and enjoy the atmosphere. Pemberton General Store owners Lionel Lee and Sheree Starling-Lee said they were happy someone from Pemberton had won the prize.
The competition ran in newspapers across the State, including the Pilbara News and North West Telegraph, and attracted more than 5000 entries.
