Achiev­ers to gain recog­ni­tion

Nom­i­na­tions for the 2017 WA Young Achiever Awards have opened and Port Hed­land res­i­dents are urged to nom­i­nate in­spir­ing role mod­els.

The ini­tia­tive, run by Awards Aus­tralia, re­wards young peo­ple younger than 30 for their pos­i­tive achieve­ments and ded­i­ca­tion to in­spir­ing oth­ers.

Last year, Port Hed­land young­sters Jesse Pawloff and Neryssa Brown were nom­i­nated for the Com­mu­nity Ser­vice and Vol­un­teer­ing Award by co-work­ers and friends, and ac­knowl­edged for their out­stand­ing con­tri­bu­tion and pos­i­tive im­pact on oth­ers.

The awards span a wide va­ri­ety of cat­e­gories, with $1000 prize money and a tro­phy up for grabs.

The 2016 WA Young Achiever Award went to Elizabeth Bren­nan, 29, of Won­gan Hills.

Nom­i­na­tions for the awards are open un­til Jan­uary 23.
