Textures, botanicals and the Jungalow trend
Lush greens, lashings of cane, jute and wicker, with a splash of azure blue, these are some of the hottest interior trends as we head into Spring 2018.
Visualise fresh seaside hues to overgrown botanicals, the Northern Rivers is naturally soaked in this style of living, but our region is also increasingly acknowledged as the epitome of this casual coastal style. From design-forward elements of our environment to outside-the-box styling, mixing up nature is how our interiors are currently rolling.
The jungle fever continues to burn
The Jungalow trend continues and for good reason. With the healing power of plants, good light and fresh air all conjuring the image of spring time, the jungle trend is defined by lashings of fresh green foliage and colourful ethnic décor pieces that are all combined together with a bold bohemian twist.
Fresh and colourful florals and pineapple shapes keep reappearing, and can be seen in lamp bases, art pieces, textiles, and décor items throughout the home. And with the garden increasingly creeping inside our homes, potted plants, hanging
plants, or foliage and flowers continue to grow and abound. A definite plus with this look is fresh healthy air, thanks to potted plants.
Cane and able
Rattan, jute and cane weave a certain, casual beachside style of living. Millennials especially love retro-style bamboo furniture as evidenced by the evocative and inspiring images that are splashed all over Instagram. Prices vary according to budget, with designer pieces bringing big-ticket prices, to the bargain vintage pieces that still are still to be found.
You can find one-off, designer jute rugs at interior boutiques, or affordable versions that are now available at budget prices in our national stores. The peacock or hanging cane chair is now reinvented and as desirable as they were first time round, as is the humble hammock, which has also been given the hipster treatment.
Deep azure and aqua blues
The latest colours to be added to the wheel of interiors include deep azure blues, denim blues, along with fresh, aqua sea blues. Look for soft furnishings, especially bedding in blues that evoke the calming element of water.
Gorgeous, hand made Moroccan rugs can now be readily found in any colour, including a wide range of deeper blues, or light aqua blues, adding the cool element of water to your living spaces.
