Find your Spring Racing Carnival style
Our fashion editor shares her style tips for the upcoming Spring Racing Carnival
FASHION goes hand in hand with racing, and September sees the start of the Spring Racing Carnival with the Lismore and Ballina Cups both on the calendar. It’s a chance to celebrate the end of winter and embrace bold prints, bright and beautiful colours and really let your personality shine in a stylish and sophisticated way.
A day out at the races is the perfect opportunity to feel your best, whether it’s a social occasion or you’re gunning for the Fashions on the Field crown, so embrace your inner fashionista and have fun with it.
You don’t have to spend a fortune on your outfit. There are a huge range of designers and boutiques across the Northern Rivers to cater for all budgets. Or why not hire a dress from the many choices online like Glam Corner, Her Wardrobe or Style Theory for a fraction of the retail price. You can also hire accessories to achieve a high end look and pair with an existing dress you have or a lower priced option.
Before you begin planning your race day outfit, just check out if there are any dress codes that are specific to the event you plan on attending. If a dress code hasn’t been specified it’s best to go with something in between cocktail and smart daytime wear.
To feel your best for the entire day, ensure that you are comfortable in what you are wearing. Go for dresses with flowing skirts and a fitted top half – a loose fitted sleeve is an easy option too. And if you do go with something that’s fitted choose a fabric that has some stretch in it.
Your Spring Racing outfit just requires one last important decision to complete it and that’s a hat, fascinator, crown or headband. Choose a head piece that not only works with your clothing but is also a reflection of your personal style too. If you are confident or flamboyant give your outfit some punch with a uniquely shaped fascinator or oversized hat. If you are more reserved and classic, try a chic headband or dainty crown.
