Camera stabilisation systems have become popular with Nikon-using filmmakers as they’re great for capturing smooth handheld video footage. The Wild Cat’s design instantly draws attention with its high-quality carbon fibre and anodised aluminium. The base features metal cylinders that counter the weight of the camera and there’s a gimbal

handle mounted mid-way up the centre column to give you optimal stabilisation.

Setup is relatively straightforward, but it’s the attention to detail which impresses most. We love the dual-purpose balance weights that can also be unfolded, transforming the stabiliser into a small tripod. These also unscrew to ensure

compatibility with smaller Nikon D-SLRs. Shooting with the Wild Cat certainly improves video smoothness, but the lack of a thumb control does make changing direction tricky.
