OUR APPRENTICE says…

This shot took careful timing, as I had to try to frame Rio so she was not too high in the shot to ensure that there was enough background behind her. It took a few attempts to ensure that I had the result nailed, but I love the fact that you can shoot such a high-action shot in such a small space. I was also amazed that you didn’t need high-end kit to be a professional fashion photographer. It was obvious that this was a team effort, though, and that a stylist and make-up artist played crucial parts in getting professional results. One of the main lessons I learned, however, is how important it is to take the lead to get the best out of a young, inexperienced model. You have to direct them constantly, and work on keeping the energy up.
