INSI GHT Focus on th is
You don’t have to use autofocus all the time. Sometimes I use manual focus and rely on a small aperture to keep everything sharp. If you set the focus distance to around two metres and the aperture to f/8, you can be pretty sure that the people you photograph are going to be in focus. That’s the advantage of using a prime lens like the 35mm – you quickly get a feel for where you need to stand and how close to get to your subjects even without putting the camera to your eye. With zooms it’s not so simple. You don’t get that same instinct for where you need to stand and how close or far away you need to be.
