Don’t get so caught up by the big things – the sweep­ing land­scapes and sprawl­ing UNESCO World Her­itage sites – that you for­get the tiny de­tails. Some of these can be far more in­ter­est­ing and char­ac­ter­is­tic of your des­ti­na­tion. Nikon has a great range of macro lenses that will al­low you to fo­cus close enough to get frame-fill­ing shots of small subjects. (See page 90 for our roundup of bud­get prime macro lenses.) I al­ways travel with a Nikon AF-S 60mm f/2.8. It is a good back-up stan­dard lens in case of equip­ment is­sues and will al­low me to fo­cus as close as a few inches.
