Hama DCCS Timer Remote £45, $55
To enable compatibility with all Nikon cameras that feature a remote controller connector, this ‘universal’ model (code 00005201) ships as a standalone unit, and you have to buy the cables to go between the remote’s lead and your camera separately. The additional cost is about £10 per 80cm cable. The overall outlay is therefore more expensive than for the competing Phottix TR-90 remote, but at least it keeps your connectivity options open if you own several cameras.
As well as the usual two-stage remote shutter button, advanced timer options enable programmable delayed and timed bulb shooting, plus time-lapse options in which you can set the interval and total number of shots in a sequence. Adjustments are intuitive, based on a four-way pad and LCD display.
