Vatican Museum Staircase
Michael Woloszynowicz, Canada
02 I was determined to visit this location during my trip to Rome. I took the shot shortly after the museum opened, to avoid crowds, and I shot handheld as tripods aren’t allowed. I took three exposures and blended them using luminosity masks in Photoshop. I also captured a few extra exposures to remove unwanted subjects. Retouching consisted of removing distracting elements, and dodging and burning each stair landing to emphasise the spiral of the staircase.
