“From the moment I decided I wanted to be a photographer, turning pro happened very quickly, over a few months actually. I knew I wanted to take pictures of the sea, but couldn’t figure out at that time how I was going to earn money doing it, so I found a niche photographing new models at London agencies using the beaches of the south coast of England.

“It was great experience, working with coastal light, and taught me a great deal as well as bringing in some much-needed cash. I was only young so I didn’t need much to live on then, and I used to shoot entirely in black-and-white and process and print in my kitchen, so overheads were very low. A fun time and a necessary part of the journey that led me to where I am now.”
