Lowepro Pro Runner 300 AW

£85, $110 Slimline and lightweight, this full photo backpack nevertheless has plenty of storage space

Proving that there’s a lot to be said for traditional design, the Pro Runner is a full photo backpack that offers space for plenty of kit while being the shallowest, most slimline bag in the group. It can easily hold two cameras like the D800 with kit lenses attached, plus up to five other standard or wide-angle lenses and a flashgun. It’s equally well suited to stowing a single camera with a long super-telephoto lens attached, plus a few other lenses, flashgun and accessories. Indeed, considering the bag’s modest dimensions, it’s quite TARDISlike in its carrying capacity.

Typical of Lowepro, no sacrifice has been made to build quality, despite the lightweight construction. A separate external front pocket has plenty of room for carrying small essentials, and there’s a neat organiser built into the cover flap of the main section.

Little luxuries

Other nice touches include a good tripod attachment system, and a waist strap and all-weather cover that both stash away neatly when not required. The Pro Runner lacks a side-access flap or laptop compartment but, for anybody who simply wants to pack loads of photo gear into the smallest possible space, it’s unbeatable value for money.
