Think Tank Photo Airport Essentials T483

Smart and stylish, it looks more like a piece of posh luggage than a photo backpack £135, $185

Stealthy by design, the Airport Essentials bag looks just like a regular piece of carry-on luggage, rather than a specialist photo backpack that’s likely to be housing lots of expensive camera kit. Even so, it’s also extremely secure, with a built-in tethering cable that extends from a small pocket on the bag, complete with combination lock. The zip sliders for the main photo compartment and 13-inch laptop sections are also suitable for use with padlocks.

Fully photographic

As a full photo backpack, there’s plenty of space inside for one or two camera bodies and several lenses, a flashgun and more besides. Internal mesh pockets are ideal for filters and other small objects, while the laptop compartment also features a useful general storage area and organiser section. A removable waist strap and seamless rain cover are also supplied. One handy feature that’s unique in this test group is that, as well as the usual grab handle on the top of the bag, there’s a second on the side to give an extra carrying option. All in all, it’s a smart and well-designed bag that has impressive build quality. The lack of a side-opening flap might be a drawback to some, but it does enhance overall security.
