You can use the same shutter speeds for helicopter­s as you would for fixed-wing propellor aircraft. This will give just the right amount of blur in the tail rotor and a hint of movement in the main rotor – though these spin at a much slower speed, so you would need impractica­lly slow shutter speeds to get the same kind of ‘spinning’ effect that you see in aeroplane propellor blades.
