We took a break from the air displays to wander round the static aircraft, but the problem here was limited access. So instead of trying to get close-up wide-angle shots, Lloyd and I stuck to longer lenses and went for interesting details rather than pictures of whole aircraft. The Red Arrows team gave us the best opportunity. By now the planes were parked up in a neat line on the ground, some distance behind the barriers – but this actually worked in our favour because I could stand further back with the 70-200mm f/2.8 lens to flatten the perspective and get some interesting compositions with the red fuselages and blue overalls of the ground crew.
