Super fly guy
I closed off last week with a weekend of macro photography – a first for me. I was lucky enough to have the loan of a Nikkor 105mm f/2.8 lens for the entire weekend.
What to do and where to go was the first problem, followed by what to shoot. After bit of quick research through my N-Photo collection, I went off to the front yard to scrounge in among the bushes. I found some flowers and a nice big cockroach. Twenty-five minutes of focusing later, I had a swag of images. As I turned to leave I saw a bush of lovely yellow flowers and tried for one more shot. Then came ‘Louie the fly’…
‘Wait, be patient, surely he will land on the yellow ones…’
Bingo! Enjoy the picture. I think it’s good for a first effort.
I used a D5100 with Nikkor 105mm f/2.8 lens, no flash, and shot hand held. It was adjusted in CS6 and cropped in Picasa 3. Sam Neumann, Geelong, Australia That’s very good indeed for a first effort, Sam – are you now tempted to get your own macro lens, I wonder?
They’re not the loveliest of creatures, but Sam’s
photo is a stunner
