This NEC looks rather plain, but it’s capable of picture-in-picture (two inputs simultaneously) plus a brightness of 340 candelas per square metre. In use, there was a very warm feel to the screen plus immense clarity. Images are really vibrant, while there are swivel and tilt modes in addition to HDMI, DisplayPort, DVI and VGA. The menu is basic, but there are good button controls.

The main problem is that it’s too costly for a Full HD 24-inch display. Also, while it’s great to be able to show two inputs side-by-side they look silly on a monitor this size.

Pros: A highly capable monitor; pro-level colour space control.

Cons: Too expensive for a 24-inch display nowadays.

We say: Good, but for this money it should be bigger.

This NEC has five Picture Mode profiles, so you can set the colours up for five different colour spaces
