Oil and wa­ter don’t mix – and you can use them to cre­ate a fun spe­cial ef­fect

Some­thing as sim­ple as oil in wa­ter can make an amaz­ing sub­ject for eye-catch­ing ab­stracts. Place a see-through tem­plate in front of a light and you can turn a sim­ple shape into some­thing much more cre­ative, as that shape is re­flected in ev­ery lit­tle globe of oil.

Here, we’ve cho­sen a smi­ley face as the ‘shape’ for our fin­ished im­age, but what makes this project so ap­peal­ing is that you can use any shape (hearts, flow­ers, stars) or light source you like.
