The Samsung Pro memory cards have a quoted read speed of 90MB per second and a write speed of 80MB per second. When put through the Quickbench software, our card delivered consistent 82MB per second read and 68MB per second write speeds, putting it in third place. This result was reflected in the buffer test, where a 29MB-per-second write speed to clear the buffer makes it marginally slower than the SanDisk.

The card has a feeling of quality that is lacking from some of the other cards and, as you’d hope from a premium product, this range has been designed to withstand the everyday rigours that photographers subject cards to. It’s shock-, water-, magnet- and X-ray-proof, and has also been tested at temperatures between -25 and 85 degrees Celsius.

For the price, this Samsung card is a good all-rounder, and it feels pleasingly robust as well
