Sarah says… A long lens such as a 70-200mm is great for por­traits. You can throw the back­ground out of fo­cus and the long fo­cal length is ex­cel­lent for flat­ter­ing fa­cial fea­tures. When us­ing a long lens you need to make sure your shut­ter speed is fast enough to com­pen­sate for the fo­cal length. For ex­am­ple, at 200mm you want to shoot with a shut­ter speed of at least 1/250 sec.
