Wellies – or, better still, waders – are crucial for the sort of images I shoot. Sometimes (in fact, more often than not!) the best angle isn’t on dry land, but in among the rock pools and the waves. Taking off your shoes and socks is a real pain, not to mention painfully cold in winter. With wellies you can wade around checking out angles and compositions without having to worry about where you put your feet. It just speeds everything up, and allows you to concentrate 100 per cent on taking better photographs.
