There’s prac­ti­cally noth­ing to choose in per­for­mance be­tween the two LED heads on test. Both gave an iden­ti­cal max­i­mum bright­ness, although the an­gle of the Man­frotto’s flood cov­er­age is slightly nar­rower. Un­like the halo­gen-based con­stant lamps on test, both this and the Man­frotto LED-based lamp have a day­light colour tem­per­a­ture. An­other plus point of LED light­ing over halo­gen is that the head runs much cooler.

In fact, LED lights are much more ef­fi­cient over­all, the to­tal power drain of this unit be­ing a mere 45W. Apart from giv­ing bet­ter car­bon cre­den­tials, this means the head can be pow­ered by a recharge­able bat­tery pack that you can buy as an ex­tra. Given the head’s fairly light weight, it’s there­fore ideal for fill-in light­ing out­doors. A dif­fu­sion dome is sup­plied with the head, and coloured fil­ters
